actually, i jumped on over to astor wines after work to pick up this bottle. its about $10 so i wanted to give it a taste to see if i'd commit to purchasing a case as a 'daily drinker'.

turns out, it was decent. not too complex, but at $10 what would you expect right ?

mr fedex dude dropped off a package for me and now i'm happy.
so i'm guessing today's post doesn't exactly support the "i'm not an alcoholic" pleas from yesterday..

nonetheless, let me elaborate on the fine specimens we have here. being that i'll be turning three-oh! this year, i decided to celebrate in style. which for me, consists of imbibing wines that are of equal age. so i set off to pick up several wines from the 1979 vintage, which include Chateau Prieure-Lichine of Margaux (#2 in the lineup) & Chateau Clerc-Milan of Pauillac (#3 in the lineup). i also stumbled onto a 1964 Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste while browsing through the auction and well, as you can see.. i just couldn't pass up the deal.

hi, i drink because it makes me happy -- but i'm not an alocholic. i tell everyone that (including strangers on the bus&subway) yet no one believes me.

the 1997 Beaulieu Vineyards Tapestry blend was one of Wine Spectator's top 100 wines of 2000 (#21 to be exact). however, by the time i was legally allowed to purchase wines, the 1997 vintage was all gone. so instead i settled for the 1999 Tapestry vintage.

eight years later, i can honestly say i'm glad i "settled". having stored the wine for that much time and being able to enjoy it at its peak maturity is a splendid thing... that makes me happy.

again, wine makes me happy but i am not an alcoholic. =)

with the shananigan flying back to canadaland tomorrow, we decided it would be fun to enjoy a night of firsts. along w/ kelvinKlo, tamiqua nyuk nyuk, shanthrax and myself -- we enjoyed afghan cuisine at khyber pass on st marks, which we highly recommend. and then we .. boarded the staten island ferry! i must say, it was defintely fun playing the role of a cheap tourist!
